Site updates

• Resurected site. After a clumsy Perl action on my behalf, the site fell apart. It was buggy for about 24 hours, after which I found time to repair it. It should be working fine again now.
• Changed the blue geader to include a link to gtplanet.net. I haven't been into contact with Delta lately, and mails are not arriving so it seems. Time for something new then.
• Added a really nasty comment about the crappy Sony PS2 online registration software. It really pissed me off to spend another evening behind my playsation fiddling with screens I never asked for, and at the end comming ot the conclusion it was all for nothing.

• Moved CVS repository to a central server, and installed disk-to-disk backup software.
• Added an article about indirect flashing.
• Started work on "JBackup", a free Java open source disk-to-disk backup system with versioning.

• Removed some javascript from the header.
• Changed the upcomming events link to point to myRCworld. This is better maintained and gives me some time to spend on other more usefull stuff on this site.

• Added CVS migration message (we're alive!)
• Added HPI Forum death announcement

• Placed a writeup about Proceed Fun Tour Europe second edition
• Did a funny article about rubber tires on the proceed.
• Made a new wallpaper, put it on the wallpaper page and set it more to the top.

• Changed NedStat counter to the new 3.0 version.
• Updated link to the zodiac racing site.
• Created a link to the Proceed FAQ.
• Updated the "tips and tricks" page with silly putty info
• Removed Javascript from the archive, and built a Perl script to maintain all article links.

• Added a route description to the great track in Gouda.
• Fiddled with some more Perl make scripts, to make the site (almost) completely static HTML. The Article archive and the left menu bar still need some work.

• Added some more missing pages (fixed broken links)

• Added RopaRun sponsor link to the site.

• Purchased www.rolfje.com domain
• Fixed some slow page transistions (mainly a problem with Internet explorer 5.0

• Added some article to the archive, which is now complete again. Thinking about different grouping scheme for the articles (not changing the layout).

• Started running aricle on EFRA homologation of the HPI Toyota GT-1 body for the proceed.

• Fixed the pushsite update problems
• Added a small writeup about the pushsite fix for others to use.

• Wrote a small statement about long time no updates
• Added the first part of the starter box project.
• Having problems with the PushSite perl script. This is probably caused by changing configurations at Zonnet, the current provider fir this website.

• Added a small placeholder page for Team JIN, who makes aluminum parts for the proceed. The page is not finished, so it is not linked from the main page.

• Added Dutch National Championship and Open Club race calendar for the 2001 season.
• Changed Delta log to make it look equal sized to the Chess logo.

• Ditched the Fastcounter on the main page. Now using NedStat solely for page view counting.
• Placed a trail version of the sponsor page online to see if and how things work. Default currency is Euro.
• Reworked some logo's, and added an article section
• Removed some links to articles from the main page. These articles can still be viewed using the Article Archive link in the left navigation bar.

• Generated a NedStat Basic hitcounter account to be able to see more detail regarding hit statistics. This should enable everybody to see the hits on this page, where they are from and when they generally occur. Looks promising. If it's satisfactory, the Fastcounter will be discontinued.
• Working on a new sponsor program through the web for Team Rolfje, which looks promising. I have to get some legal issues solved, and do some more work on the thechnical implementation, but I expect to get it all up and running before the beginning of this season.
• Re-trying to upload this page today. If you see this as the last update, it worked (finally)!

• Plugged the Toyota GT1 body for Delta mfg. You're welcome, Ken and Dave!
• Wrote a little review about a PlayStation 2 game I recently bought: EA Formula 1 Championship Season 2000. If you are any serious about racing, don't buy this game guys.

• Added small article about possible Chess iT sponsorship.
• Changed order of the page update entries to show the last date first.

• Added small article about discontinuance IBM sponsorship.

• Having some problems with my internet provider, so I don't know how long I am not able to send updates to the web. Connecting zonnet from my Linux machine has become a problem for some reason or the other. Judging from the my log files, zonnet has installed a different server or has upgraded operating systems, because I get different responses from the server when my system tries to log on.

• Added article about Methanol and Nitromethane health hazards
• Changed the logo on the link to Merit Racing to a more flashy/eyecatching one.

• Made a better user guide for the tire wear analyzer
• Made a single page to reach the ratio computer and the tire wear analyzer from, and also made a downloadable zipfile to enable people to use it off-line.

• Added some funny page blends for Internet Explorer (not that I can see them at home using Netscape on Linux, but it looks funny at work... no harm done)
• Clarified some questions on the tire wear analyzer by adding a small "quick start guide"

• Added Serpent Robbed story
• Added preliminary Hudy Setup info sheet
• Tried out some CSS (doesn't work for older browsers, so I'll leave it be. Sorry for this updates page, maybe I'll be able to revert it someday)

• Added "XHTML 1.0 verified" icon to the first page. Yes, really certified, and handcoded HTML! No special editors whatsoever. Just using Kwrite on Linux, with a little helping hand from Tidy.
• Made adjustments to nice voting picture for RC car top 25 (black was slightly gray-ish)
• Added sneak preview of Tirewear calculator
• Added article about the Sarik VacForm Toyota GT1 (to compare it with HPI quality. Guess who wins? Hint: It's certainly not Sarik!)

• Corrected links in price correction article for the Proceed (lined to www.merit.nl in stead of www.meritracing.nl. Sorry!
• Added nice voting picture for RC car top 25
• Started to make the site XHTML correct and validating it with w3c's validator (not doing bad for hand-coded HTML!)

• After debugging a perl script called "pushsite" (by Colin McKinnon), which misse a quote and a closing bracket, I am finally able to update my site automatically. This means that I would be able to update my site virtually every day without much effort (finally). Don't worry, my site isn'tgoing to be updated every day... ;-)
• Removed excessive files to free up space on the server
• Changed the animated gif of the first page to be less annoying, by removing the blink sequence.
• Cleaned up all HTML markup with "Tidy", an HTML cleanup/checking tool for Linux (also available for other platforms). Everything should now at least be well-formed, in XHTML format, and neatly indented.

• Sitecopy doesn't seem to work, reverting to the normal "everything by hand" crap. Very tedious...

• Installed "sitecopy" on my Linux system. I hope I will be able to update this site better and more often now. If you see this, sitecopy works! (not a Linux expert, just a user who is tired of windows hanging every 30 seconds and having to pay for everything)

I got no reactions for my calendar questions, next year there won't be one. Apperantly nobody seems to care.

• Splitted the R/C events calendar and gave it it's own location
• Updated link colors for better reading
• Made a complete backup and started versioning the source for better tracking of (local) changes
• Added the Ratio Computer to the main links page.
• Added fresh blue background to some tables for better looks and more consequent look-and-feel across the site. (without slowing down the site or adding frames)
• Resampled the JPG images from the EFRA page for quicker download times (should be approx. 25% quicker)
• Removed the "duriuswaterpic" applet with the Proceed logo from the overdrive ratio table. A web browser shouldn't have to be able to run a Java applet while all you want to do is view a simple table. (The moving proceed logo is still available under another link...)
• Removed incorrect HPI overdrive ratio chart, and replaced it with a link to the corrected one at/by HPI
• Added "rotating stars" link to always return to the root index.htm
• Added my email address as a non-clickable gif (sorry guys, if you want to mail me you have to type it in). This way it is un-readable by e-mail collecting bots (used for spamming).
• Testing fortunecity counters and timers at the bottom of this updates page.
• Added old "packet radio analyzed" article I had lying around from an old website I made.

I am still looking for ways to categorize all these RC events. There seem to be too many classes with too many different races. Since I am not in to all these classes, I can not asses which events should be catagorized under which class. Still working on this. Meanwhile, I decided to just put the NOMAC calendar on-line until I figure these things out. If you happen to read this and know which race belongs to which class, please contact me. I also have the various club race calendars from the Netherlands which seem to even have classes of their own. I don't get it. Help! What's BBS? What's EOR? E10 is Pro-Ten but is it the same, or a sub-class. And is it touring car body or doesn't matter?
I just want a general, nicely categorized calendar which is readable for non-insiders, regardless of which racing class they are interested in...
